Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012
12:24 a.m.: noise complaint, Shepard Street, a community policing officer requests assistance dispersing a large college aged party, a responding officer reports he observed a male party leaving the area hunched over as if trying to conceal something he was carrying, the officer reports he heard glass bottles clanking together when the man put on a backpack he had been carrying, the officer stopped the young man who admitted there was beer in his backpack and opened it to show the officer, Robertjon O. McCann, 19, of 30 Rockland St., Brockton, was arrested for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor, a second officer reports he observed a youth leaving he party who discarded a backpack when he saw the officer and subsequently denied it was his, the youth said that he had only been holding it but acknowledged there was beer inside, the youth said that he had no identification but the officer’s pat frisk for his safety revealed what appeared to be a wallet and when asked again the youth produced identification which showed he was younger than the legal drinking age, the officer reports that when his attention was momentarily distracted the youth fled, the officer gave chase and apprehended the young man on Lincoln Street, the officer noted that persons sitting on a porch had been disturbed by the chase, Collin M. Radley, 20, of 92 Ridgewood Road, Milton, was arrested for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor and for disorderly conduct ;
1:50 a.m.: disturbance, Fairfield Avenue, a caller reports her husband is acting strangely and grabbed her neck, the responding officer reports the visibly upset and shaken caller said that she confronted her husband when he came home from a bar and he became verbally aggressive, the woman said that the man grabbed the phone from her when she tried to call for crisis services and grabbed her neck in the process, the woman said she was able to get he phone back and called police, Paul F. Hadley, 75, of 66 Fairfield Ave, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
2:13 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports that he observed a known vehicle being operated by a known man, the officer reports he has previously advised the owner of the vehicle not to continue to allow the suspect to operate it since his license is suspended, the man’s license status was confirmed and the vehicle was stopped, the operator said that he knew his license was suspended but he has to get to work, William J. Spradlin, 51, of 10 Avery St., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license;
2:15 a.m.: disorderly conduct, Morris Avenue, a patrol officer reports he observed a male party in the middle of Orange Street drawing the attention of pedestrians by yelling and swearing, the officer reports the man showed obvious signs of intoxication and was unable or unwilling to tell the officer where he was going, the man declined to calm down and was advised he was arrested for assault and battery, while in the cruiser the man became agitated and started shouting asking why he had been beaten, the officer reports that when he pointed out that he had not been beaten the man said it was going to look like he was and started smashing his face against the cage in the cruiser, the officer sought assistance and removed the man from the cruiser and attempted to prevent him from smashing his face against the pavement, the man complained that his head and neck hurt but while he was en route to hospital he became violent and verbally abusive toward the firefighters, in the hospital the man was disruptive and threatened the staff before he was found to be healthy enough for discharge, the man was uncooperative during booking when he was arrested for disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer;
4:49 a.m.: trespass, Park Square, a patrol officer reports he encountered two parties sleeping at the Green, the two men were advised of the pertinent city ordinances and sent on their ways;
1:24 p.m.: incapacitated person, Holyoke Road, a supervisory officer requests a well-being check of a person, the responding officer reports the subject was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself was placed in protective custody;
4:27 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
7:12 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave, campus police report they have taken custody of a stray dog, a responding animal control officer reports he transported the dog to the municipal animal shelter;
9:38 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a physician came to the station to report that an employee has stolen from her practice, the responding officer reports the complainant said that her bookkeeper has stolen several thousand dollars in the past year, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
9:48 p.m.: disturbance, Cedar Lane, a caller reports that his adult son is causing a scene again, the responding officer reports the subject had been drinking earlier but was not incapacitated at that time and left the area, the caller reports that the man has returned and is now more intoxicated, the officer reports the man was obviously highly intoxicated and was yelling and creating a disturbance, the man’s family said they were unable to cope with the man while he is intoxicated and he was placed in protective custody;
10:59 p.m.: liquor law violation, East Bartlett Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a youth on East Bartlett Street drinking form a 40 ounce container of beer, the officer approached the youth and found him to be younger than the legal drinking age, city ordinance violation citations for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor and for possession of an open container of alcohol in public were filed;
11:39 p.m.: noise complaint, Cleveland Avenue, a caller reports a noise complaint, the responding officer reports he could hear the subject swearing on the second floor when he arrived and when they knocked he heard the resident yelling and swearing at him, the officer reports the man appeared to be intoxicated and was belligerent and uncooperative when he answered the door, the man continued to yell and swear despite repeated requests to calm down, the man was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;

12:32 a.m.: liquor law violation, Summer Street at Arnold Street, the community policing supervisor reports a liquor law violation, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
1:13 a.m.: disturbance, North Road, Northampton State police relayed a reports of possible domestic abuse of a city resident believed to be en route from Northampton, the responding officer reports he found a male party on North Road who said that he had been returning home after drinking in Northampton with a couple and both he and the female party objected to the man’s driving so they exited the vehicle, the officer spoke with the man who told the officer that the other man had slapped the woman as she exited the vehicle, the officer spoke with the female party at her North Road residence who initially denied she had been struck and said that she had summoned the man to return for her after she left the vehicle, the officer spoke with the man who denied hitting the woman, Adam Conrad, 22, of 130 North Road, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship.
