The Beach Boy and his lovely new wife would like to thank the WDPW for patching the road to our wedding ceremony, great job guys.
I commented a couple of weeks ago about not being able to find blankets made in the USA in our local stores. Most of what I did find came from China. As I browsed in these stores for other items, I ran into the same discovery, “MADE IN CHINA”. Today as I’m shopping at the Big Y, I found the straw that broke the camels back. In the frozen vegetable department under Big Y’s name were bags of chopped onions and bags of pepper strips. Clearly printed on the back of these bags “PRODUCT OF CHINA”. I almost blew a gasket! Now they are selling us food items. First, China was making jewelry for children filled with way over the allowable limit of lead in them. Then came children’s toys painted with high levels of lead in the paint. The latest was all those dogs that died due to bad dog treats. We as consumers will never know if what comes from China will be safe. Our government doesn’t have the capability (or the desire) to test all things coming over from there. We as consumers have a choice- either continue to take chances with buying from China or boycott China goods!
I’m calling about the condition of East Main Street. It’s horrible. The gutters are lined with trash, leaves and all kinds of things and it looks terrible. It’s a great way to show people who come to Westfield how messy it is.
Hi. I wonder if this has happened to anyone else… You call the specialist to make an appointment and they tell you that you need a referral. So you call your primary care physician and get the referral like you’re supposed to. On the day of the appointment, you go to the specialist only to find out the referral never got sent from the primary care doctor to the specialist. One time this happened to me and the specialist wouldn’t even see me because he was scared he wouldn’t get paid. So I went to my primary care doctor’s referral lady and she went through her books and showed me right there that she sent the referral. So what’s going on? Did it get lost in cyber space somewhere or is this another typical example of how screwed up the medical profession is? Can you imagine the doctor wouldn’t even see me? What is this world coming to?
I watched on Thursday on Channel 22 where 169 immigrants are now U.S. citizens in the Springfield area. So I would like to congratulate them on becoming Americans and how it feels to look for a job. Now there’s a 169 people without a job or do they get one? Are there job placements for them?
Well, here we go again losing another Westfield assessor. It seems like everyone wants to get away from you, Mayor. They don’t want to get caught up in your hoopla. The only people who are staying there are the ones that are cleaning your underside.
I called before to challenge Mr. Berry, saying that he sticks up for all the things the mayor does and never challenges anything he does in support of the town. And there you go, you’re right there quick to say how the judge shut down for the school and not for the park. So why don’t you do that on other good things that we say and use your bold black print for facts that we produce. That’s my point. You always stick up for him and will never print anything that puts the mayor down. So therefore, these are the reasons I call and I will continue to let you know when you do it because you wanted me to. So watch it because that’s what you do. You don’t stick up for the people. Thank you for your time. I referenced the judge’s specific ruling on the situation regarding the Ashley/Cross St. school project. I was not supporting either side, just pointing out the facts. That is exactly what you should want in a news source. If you would like to converse further my phone number is 562-4181 extension 101. Please call. Or you can continue to hide behind the “anonymity” of the PulseLine. PB
Southwick Selectmen: Once again I’m complaining to you instead of the Cemetery Commissioners because they won’t listen. The Southwick cemetery work crews that do the mowing and trimming work has drastically gone downhill for the last four or five years. If you would take a ride through the cemetery from time to time, you will see what I mean.
Parents, when you take your little children out this weekend for a hayride and to pick pumpkins for the Halloween season, don’t forget to bring your camera.
Hi. I’m just calling as a resident of this fine City of Westfield. I decided to take a ride this cold and raining day to try to find something to do and, boy, what a variety of things I had to choose from! I couldn’t decide which bar to go in, which Chinese restaurant to go in, or which pizza place to go in. Hmmm. I’m confused. I can’t figure out which one I want to go to. Boy!
Can anyone tell me what has happened to the Proud Chef Restaurant on Southwick Road? I have been there twice and there’s a sign saying they are gone for vacation and will be back by September 15. Well, September 15 has come and gone and I see no signs of life there. Can someone help me out with this?
This question is for the management of Stop & Shop. Why do you let so many shoplifters get away with what they’re doing? I see the employees do nothing about stopping the shoplifters. Do you have security there? If there is, they’re not doing their job. You need to step up your security because I see people walking out of there every day with stuff.
This is to the woman driving on Saturday afternoon with the John Deere sticker on her truck. I apologize for cutting you off. You must have been having a terrible day considering your rants and screaming, swearing and one-finger salutes. Sorry. I apologize.
I happened to be revisiting my years as a City Councilor and I can’t remember completely ignoring advice from a city solicitor. The council at one time was at odds with a city solicitor but it had nothing to do with advice given. Therefore, I am quite disturbed with the councilors who are ignoring the advice of our law office regarding the appointment to fill Jim Brown’s seat. I am appalled at some of the reasons given, grouped together, they’re saying we can do what we want. I had to call the City Clerk’s office to get the wording of the “Oath of Office” that all elected officials take. I took it 11 times during my 22 years and I took it quite seriously. I thought I should remind everyone who took it to reflect on it. Here’s the oath: “I do soundly swear faith and allegiance to the Commonwealth of Mass. and I will support the Constitution thereof, so help me God. 2) I do soundly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, so help me God. 3) I do soundly swear that I will faithfully and impartially perform all the duties incumbent upon me as City Councilor.” Now, councilors, if you are comfortable that you have in fact upheld all these oaths, then who am I to question you? However, some of you as well as other city officials should be questioning themselves usually regarding impartiality. Thank you. Barbara Swords.
