6:06 a.m.: found property, a patrol officer reports keys belonging to a person who has since been released on bail were found in a cruiser, the officer reports he tried twice to call the owner, without success, the keys were mailed to the owner;
6:58 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
7:16 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Western Avenue, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:09 a.m.: Lincoln Street, a caller reports that street signs in the area are frequently stolen by college aged youths and he can see one in the back yard of a Lincoln Street address, the responding officer reports two DPW signs were recovered from the back yard of an unoccupied residence, the officer reports that the junk in the yard could be a hazard for neighborhood children, the community policing officer for the neighborhood was notified;
9:59 a.m.: larceny, East Bartlett Street, a caller reports her son stole her grandson’s video game system, the responding officer reports the caller said that she awoke to find that her video game system was missing and suspects her son who lives with her took it to sell to finance his habits, the officer reports the woman’s son said that he had not been home that night, there were no signs of forcible entry;
10:07 a.m.: vandalism, Main Street, a caller reports his vehicle was vandalized overnight, the responding officer reports the man said that he parked his van in his driveway about midnight and in the morning found that both front tires had been slashed;
11:06 a.m.: found property, Elm Street, a detail officer reports a person surrendered a found wallet, the wallet was transported to the station for safe keeping and Westfield State University police were asked to attempt to notify the owner;
12:42 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Washington Street, a resident came to the station to report the possible violation of a protective order, the responding officer reports the woman said that the defendant of an order asked her to give the plaintiff, his juvenile granddaughter, a rope because he heard she wanted a rope swing, the domestic violence advocate and the officer determined that the request was not a violation of the protective order;
4:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
4:43 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street at Mainline Drive, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
5:11 p.m.: fire, Noble Avenue, a caller reports a chimney fire, dual response dispatched, the responding firefighters report the open hearth fire was extinguished and a small fire at the top of the chimney was extinguished using dry chemicals, the house was thoroughly checked for extensions of the fire but no hot spots were found, the resident was advised to have the chimney cleaned before using it again;
7:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed.
