The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield’s Keystone Elite Club hosted their 8th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast on November 12 at the Club. The breakfast was free to all Veterans and active military personnel.
The Veterans Day Breakfast marked the eighth consecutive year that Keystone Elite Club ran this event to honor those who have served and are serving our country. Keystone Elite Club is a teenage character and leadership group that engages young adults in activities that focus on academic success, career preparation and community service.
“The teens really worked hard all year to raise money to make sure they could put on this event,” said Kellie Brown, director of operations. “It costs us around $200 to get all the supplies and food needed. To raise the money Keystone members had bake sales, flower sales and sold ice cream every week during the summer.”
Veterans and active military personnel were served eggs, sausage, bagels, coffee and tea by Keystone members.
“This is one of my favorite events that we put on for the community,” said Lina, Westfield High Junior and Keystone Elite Club president. “It’s really the least we can do for these people who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom.”
