8:50 a.m.: motor vehicle complaint, Southampton Road, an off duty officer reports he observed a vehicle occupied by two male parties who appeared to be concerned when a cruiser came into view, the officer approached the car and asked what the men were doing, the officer reports the men said they had dropped off a friend but he had seen the vehicle arrive and knew that statement to be untrue, the officer asked the men if they had any weapons which might be used to harm him and one surrendered a knife, a pat frisk revealed no other potential weapons and the second man when asked also surrendered a pocket knife, the second man was asked what was in his backpack and he said that the contents included alcohol, the man acknowledged that he was 20-year-old, the officer also saw a variety of jewelry in the car and one of the men said that his girlfriend had given him the jewelry to pawn, further inspection revealed a cigar box containing a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia, criminal complaints for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of alcohol were filed against both parties and a city ordinance violation citation for possession of marijuana was issued to the driver, the property was seized pending determination of the owner;
12:01 p.m.: vandalism, Westfield Middle School South, a school resource officer report he was advised of a shattered window in a classroom at the school and investigated to find that six large windows had been shattered, apparently by BB impacts, the SRO report he went outside to check for additional damage and found a pickup truck parked at the school had a shattered rear window;
2:44 p.m.: disturbance, Munger Hill School, Cardinal Lane, a caller reports a violation of a protective order, the responding officer reports the caller said that when she went to pick up her daughter at school she saw her husband who is the defendant of a protective order, she said that the man deliberately drove past her twice and made a rude gesture each time, the woman said that when she and her daughter got home the man drove past twice more and again made a rude hand gesture, the officer reports he spoke with the suspect by phone and the man said that he had passed his wife only once and that was by coincidence, the officer advised the man that a criminal complaint would be filed;
3:41 p.m.: suspicious activity, Old Montgomery Road, a railroad employee reports a pickup truck loaded with scrap metal was seen on the railroad property and left when he approached, the employee said that the truck had been in the area of a scrap pile but said he does not know if anything is missing from the pile although he observed what appeared to be a section of rail sticking out of the truck, the caller said he would ask his boss to check the scrap inventory to determine what if anything was stolen;
4:47 p.m.: assist citizen, East Main Street, a caller reports keys are locked in a running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
4:52 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a traffic bureau officer reports he observed a parked vehicle with was found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
8:53 p.m.: noise complaint, Church St., a caller reports Church Street residents are playing musical instruments loudly enough to disturb his peace and that police have twice responded to similar complaints, the responding officer reports he heard the loud music before he exited his cruiser and found there was no response when he knocked, presumably because the residents could not hear him over their music, the officer entered the unlocked garage and the residents stopped playing, criminal complaints were filed against both musicians for disturbing the peace and for keeping a noisy and disorderly house;

3:44 a.m.: disturbance, Notre Dame Apartments, 25 Collins St., a caller reports her son slashed the tires of her car, the responding officer reports the caller said that about 3 a.m. her 29-year-old son came to her residence and banged on her door, the woman said a disturbance developed when she would not allow him to use her car and he threatened to slash her tires, when told to leave the man took a knife from the kitchen and slashed her tires, the woman said she does not wish to pursue criminal charges;
9:58 a.m.: forgery, Summit Drive, a resident came to the lobby to report that an attempt was made to cash a check which had been in her purse when it was stolen, the information was relayed to the detectives investigating the original theft;
4:03 p.m.: animal complaint, King Street, a caller reports a stray pit bull dog was in the roadway and almost got struck by a vehicle, the responding animal control officer reports she transported the dog to the municipal animal shelter;
10:56 p.m.: disturbance, Summer Street, a caller reports her former boyfriend came to her home with a BB gun and an altercation ensued with her current boyfriend, the responding officer reports the woman said that her former boyfriend, who is the defendant of a protective order, entered her unlocked residence without invitation and menaced her with the gun, the woman said that her boyfriend saw the gun and charged the man, wrestling the gun away before the other man fled, the gun was found to be a BB gun, the man was found nearby and was in possession of a knife, Gary J. Harnden, 24, of 10 Princeton St., was arrested for violation of an abuse prevention order, armed assault in a dwelling, breaking and entering a building in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony and for home invasion.
