9:02 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports he was advised of the larceny of a smart phone from a locker during a basketball game, the responding office reports his investigation led him to interview a pupil who denied stealing the phone, the SRO reports that the boy and his mother subsequently came to see him and the boy admitted taking the phone, the boy delivered a gift card in the amount of the purchase price (without a calling plan) of the phone, the victim and his parents were satisfied with the restitution and said they were not inclined to pursue criminal charges;
9:03 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports he was advised that on Jan. 14 two boys were found to have been selling brownies fortified with marijuana, the SRO reports school officials took disciplinary action against both the boys and their customers, no criminal charges were filed;
11:08 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Harvard Street at North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
1:50 p.m.: suspicious activity, Briarcliff Drive, a patrol supervisor was flagged down by a woman who said she was struck by BB while on Briarcliff Drive, the officer reports that search if the area revealed no credible suspects;
2:35 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Court Street at Holcomb Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red traffic signal, the vehicle was stopped and the operator said that he had no license, the officer reports a check revealed that the man’s license had been revoked as an habitual traffic offender, Liam L. Wright, 35, of 741 Western Ave., was arrested for operating motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender and for failure to stop for a state highway traffic signal;
4:23 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Street at Katharine Street, a patrol officer reports a routine check of a vehicle seen operating revealed that the registration plates on the vehicle had been issued for another car, the vehicle was stopped, a criminal complaint for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and for attaching plates was filed;
6:48 p.m.: breaking and entering, Kellogg Street, a caller reports her home was broken into, the responding officer reports the caller said that forcible entry was made via a window, the officer reports nothing of value was found to be missing;
7:08 p.m.: vandalism, Sherwood Avenue, a caller reports that his car, house and neighbor’s car were struck by what appear to be pellet impacts, the responding officer reports the caller showed him marks on his house which had apparently been struck by orange paint balls, the man said that he had already washed the residue of paint ball impacts from his vehicle.
