1:22 a.m.; incapacitated person, Westwood Drive, a caller reports a 69-year-old man is unconscious on the floor but breathing, the responding officer reports the man was conscious but unable to tell the officer his name or birth date, the man was transported to Noble Hospital for evaluation;
1:53 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southwick Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the operator was found to be under the weather and was placed in protective custody, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:35 a.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a representative of an Elm Street merchant came to the station to report newspapers were stolen, the responding officer reports that man said that all the different newspapers which are usually delivered to the store about 4:30 a.m. were gone when he arrived at 7:30 a.m.;
10:10 a.m.: attempted larceny, Noble Hospital, 115 W. Silver St., a caller from the hospital reports a described male party attempted to steal an iPod from a hospital security officer who is in pursuit of the suspect on Court Street, the responding officer reports he suspect was detained and served with a ‘No trespassing’ order, the man was provided a courtesy transport to Meadow Street;
11:12 a.m.: disturbance, Montgomery Road Animal Hospital, a caller reports an upset woman abandoned her dog in the animal hospital, the responding officer reports an employee told him that the woman had come in asking that her dog be euthanized, the employee said that the woman became very upset when advised of the clinic’s policy regarding euthanization of healthy dogs and returned to her vehicle leaving the dog behind with money on the counter, the employee said that she followed the woman and returned the dog and the money but the woman went back inside and repeated her action before successfully leaving the area, the officer reports he spoke with a family member of the suspect who was advised that a “No trespassing’ order would be issued for the woman and that she should come to the animal hospital to take custody of the woman’s money, the director of animal control operations took custody of the dog and reports that the healthy seven-year-old black Labrador retriever will be available for adoption after the statutory waiting period;
2:28 p.m.: assist citizen, Main Street, a caller reports she has locked her keys in her running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
2:45 p.m.: assist citizen, Springdale Road, a caller reports he has locked his keys in his running car, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
3:11 p.m.: larceny, Chapel Street, a resident came to the station to report her city-owned trash receptacle was stolen, the responding officer reports the woman was advised to contact the DPW for a replacement;
3:50 p.m.: fire, Meadow Street, a caller reports neighbors are burning something which may include aerosol cans as he can hear something popping, the responding firefighters report residents were burning trash, the resident was advised of the pertinent city ordinances and the fire was extinguished;
4:16 p.m.: found property, Woodsong Road, a patrol officer reports a person surrendered to him a drivers license reportedly found at the Holyoke Mall, the officer reports the license was delivered to its owner;
4:31 p.m.: attempted fraud, Loomis Street, a resident came to the station to report an apparent scam, the responding officer reports the woman said that she received a call from a person allegedly representing Bryan Technologies, the woman said that the caller claimed to be offering support services relative to her Internet use but the questions she was asked made her suspect that the call was a phishing attempt and she terminated the call;
5:20 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop of a semi-trailer unit, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to have been suspended, the trucking company dispatched a licensed driver from Springfield to take control of the vehicle;
6:18 p.m.: breaking and entering, Sandy Hill Road, a caller reports a past incident breaking and entering at the residence, the responding officer reports the caller said that in the past couple of weeks a window of a door was broken to gain access to the house and jewelry and a check book were stolen, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
6:54 p.m.: incapacitated person, Elm Street, a caller reports an intoxicated man on the sidewalk, the responding officer reports a male party who was obviously intoxicated became agitated and combative when he was advised that he was being taken into protective custody, the man declined to calm and resisted efforts to take him into custody, Thomas A. Roberts, 45, of 567 State St., Springfield was arrested for disorderly conduct and for resisting arrest;
7:58 p.m.: animal complaint, Kasper Drive, a caller reports taking custody of a small stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports the small female terrier and poodle mix dog with black ear tips was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
9:55 p.m.: narcotics violation, Sibley Avenue, a detective supervisor reports that, pursuant to an ongoing narcotics investigation, a warrant was executed and the target was found to be in possession of more than an ounce of marijuana as well as scales, packaging material and other paraphernalia, Christopher A. Szczepanek, 25, of 7 Sibley Ave., was arrested for possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute.
