1:43 a.m.: vandalism, Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed vandalism to the door of a Main Street business, the officer reports he observed that a glass door which he had not noticed to have been damaged on previous patrols was found to have been shattered;
6:34 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Washington Street, a patrol officer reports he issued a city ordinance violation citation to the owner of a Washington Street residence who has previously been advised to clear the sidewalks adjacent to his property and has declined to comply with the pertinent city ordinance, the citation was mailed to the landlord’s Southwick address;
10:48 a.m.: found property, Allen Avenue, a resident came to the station to surrender a cell phone found on the south end of Allen Avenue, the desk officer reports that the phone’s keypad is locked frustrating attempts to identify the owner, the phone was stored for safe keeping;
11:07 a.m.: suspicious activity, Juniper Park School, 715 Western Avenue, a caller from the Westfield State University police reports a door was found open at the school, ten city officers responded, the first responding officer reports that WSU personnel report seeing and confronting a male party who denied being in the school, nothing was found to be missing, school officials were reportedly concerned abut a laptop computers which may have been left in the school by pupils, school is not in session due to vacation;
1:04 p.m.: breaking and entering, Franklin Street, a caller reports he is a caseworker for a patient who will be returning to his home after a hospital stay and he checked the patient’s apartment and found that the door was off its hinges, the responding officer reports the landlord said that the door had been intact on Feb. 15 when he made repairs and noted that the tenant has homeless friends who often stay with him, the officer reports the front door had apparently been kicked in but noting was found to be missing;
1:33 p.m.: unwanted guest, Econo Lodge, 2 Southampton Road, a caller reports a customer who was supposed to check out by noon is refusing to leave, the responding officer reports the man was found on the floor and was unresponsive, the officer noted a large bottle of liquor found near the man was about two thirds empty, the man was transported to Noble Hospital by fire department ambulance;
3:28 p.m.: disturbance, a resident came to the station report he was assaulted by his father the night before, the responding officer reports the complainant said that his father sometimes stays at his residence and when he came home at 3 a.m. his father objected to the hours he keeps sparking an argument, the officer reports each man said the other pushed him, both were advised that they could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court if they chose to;
5:59 p.m.: disturbance, Noble Hospital emergency department, Court Street, a caller reports a person who had been treated for alcohol intoxication is still intoxicated and is causing a disturbance, the man was placed in protective custody;
10:12 p.m.: noise complaint, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a caller reports loud music from a neighbor’s apartment is disturbing her peace, the responding officer reports the resident said that he and his band were making a recording, the officer reports a routine check revealed the resident to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Sharief A. Haqquani, 38, of 342 Southwick Road, was arrested on the 2011 warrant.
