1:54 a.m.: disturbance, Main Street, a supervisory officer reports a fight, the responding officer reports the man was found to be obviously highly intoxicated and was placed in protective custody;
2:15 a.m.: liquor law violation, Cherry Street, auxiliary officers report a man in public was seen with an open container of alcohol, the officers report the man said that he had marijuana in his possession, a city ordinance violation citation was issued an the officers gave the man a courtesy transport to a Casimir Street address where a relative agreed to care for him;
11:08 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a person came to the station to surrender a brown and white springer spaniel dog reportedly found on Pleasant Street;
12:11 p.m.: notification, Shaker Road at Laro Road, a community policing officer reports a high snow bank which has contributed to two accidents in the past two days needs to be addressed, the DPW was again notified and the officer reports a DPW representative said that the problem is caused by a resident’s snow removal habits, the officer asserts action is needed to prevent additional accidents and reports that at 1:36 p.m. he assisted with traffic while a DPW crew reduced the snowbank and completed their efforts by 1:46 p.m.;
1:16 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Avenue, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to be operated by a person with an expired license, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
3:13 p.m.: harassment, East Main Street, a caller reports unordered food deliveries have been made to his business since an employee was discharged, the responding officer reports the caller said that a criminal case is pending against the former employee and suspects he is responsible for the unwanted deliveries although he has no evidence to support his suspicion;
6:31 p.m.: fire, Holland Avenue, a caller reports a chimney fire, the responding firefighters report flames were seen from the chimney when they arrived and the fire was extinguished with a dry chemical suppressant, no extensions of the fire were found in the nearby walls, see photo in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
7:11 p.m.: vandalism, Union Street, a caller reports her front entryway was vandalized with cookies or pastries, the responding officer reports that he observed pastries by the door but it is unknown who did this;
9:21 p.m.: suspicious person, Elm Street, a caller reports a masked person entered the store and after he asked her to remove the mask repeatedly she fled the store, the same person called again a few minutes later to reports that a customer who had been in the store said that the masked woman was carrying a gun, the responding officers report there was an extensive search of the area that yielded no suspect, the witness came to the station to make a statement and was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Yamilette Lashey Mendez, 17, was arrested on the warrant;
9:25 p.m.: domestic disturbance, Lindbergh Boulevard, a caller reports her husband is highly intoxicated and creating a disturbance in the home, the woman also said she was concerned about her child who was asleep in the home, the responding officer reports the man was found to be obviously highly intoxicated and was placed in protective custody;
11:57 p.m.: suspicious activity, Robinson Drive, a caller reports an underage youths are drinking alcohol at a party, the responding officers report that participants seen as they approached fled into the house and at first would not respond to officers knocking, a male party who was not a resident eventually opened the door and the officers found that a youth was hosting a gathering while his parents were absent, the young man was uncooperative and refused to provide information to the officers but a person at the residence was able to call the boy’s parents who came to the address and agreed to discipline their son;

12:04 a.m.: liquor law violation, Thomas Street, a community policing officer reports he issued a city ordinance violation to a male party for being a minor in possession of alcohol in public;
2:00 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a routine check reveled that the registration of a vehicle seen operating had been suspended, the vehicle was stopped and the officer reports the occupants were found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, both occupants were issued city ordinance violation citations;
2:15 a.m.: assist other agency, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., Westfield State University police reports a male was placed in protective custody and request the use of a cell, a cell monitor was provided;
5:07 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Washington Street, a patrol officer reports he issued a city ordinance violation citation to the owner of a Washington Street residence who has previously been advised to clear the sidewalks adjacent to his property and has declined to comply with the pertinent city ordinance, the citation was mailed to the landlord’s Southwick address;
11:01 a.m.: assault, West Road, a Westfield resident came into the police station and reports a past assault, the responding officer reports the woman said that during an altercation a known female party pulled her down to the floor by her hair, there were no witnesses to the alleged assault and no charges were filed;
11:31 a.m.: harassment, Marla Circle, a resident came to the station to complain that someone has initiated magazine subscriptions in her name without her knowledge and consent, the woman said she knows of nobody likely to be responsible;
2:02 p.m.: animal complaint, a caller reports a stray male yellow Labrador retriever mix dog, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
2:36 p.m.: weather complaint, Bartlett Street, a patrol officer reports he assisted with traffic as a priest cleared a storm drain near a parochial school;
8:49 p.m.: breaking and entering, Union Street, a resident came into the station to report his vehicle was entered and property was stolen, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that sometime since 11 p.m. the previous night electronics and cash were stolen from his unlocked vehicle, the man said does not know where the vehicle was parked at the time of the theft;

10:06 a.m.: found property, George Street at Meadow Street, a patrol officer reports he found a hypodermic syringe in the roadway, the officer reports the syringe was safely disposed of at Noble Hospital;
1:38 p.m.: alarm, General Shepard Apartments, Thomas Street, a pull station alarm was received from a high-rise apartment building, see story in the Tuesday edition of The Westfield News;
5:18 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from a gas station reports a customer failed to pay for fuel pumped which was valued at $20, an officer reports he stopped the suspect vehicle on Thomas Street and the operator returned to the station, the man said that he thought that his credit card had been charged and paid for his fuel;
7:44 p.m.: harassment, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a caller reports that a known woman with whom she has ongoing issues has sent a harassing and threatening e-mail message regarding money she claims is owed her, the officer reports he spoke with the suspect and advised her that the financial claim is a civil issue, the woman agreed to stop contacting the complainant;
8:51 p.m.: burglary, North Road, an alarm company reports an alarm activation in a North Road restaurant, the responding officer reports he found a glass door broken and a rock nearby, the officer inspected the property with a responding keyholder and found nobody inside, cash was found to have been stolen from the restaurant;
11:00 p.m.: annoying phone call, East Main Street at Little River Road, a resident reports an annoying phone call via the on-line reporting option.
