Mary A. Megaro

WESTFIELD – Mary A. (Mayeros) Megaro, 91, a retired 32 year owner and manager of the former Megaro Sports Center with her late husband Raymond E. on Elm Street, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 in a local nursing home. Born and raised in Westfield, Mary was a communicant of St. Peter and St. Casimir Church, Westfield.
She was a member of its Rosary Society and the Slovak Citizen Club. Mary was a 1939 graduate of Westfield High School and a graduate of the former Northampton Commercial College. She also was employed for many years at Stanhome Products. Mary enjoyed feeding neighborhood pets and wildlife and traveling with her granddaughter, Melissa.
Mary leaves her granddaughter, Melissa Smith of Richmond, VA; her brothers, Joseph Mayeros, Jr and his wife Therese of Westfield and William Mayeros and his wife Betty of Horshawn, PA, her nieces, Vicky Lincoln of Westfield, Jane Willemain of Naples, FL, Holly Ross of MI and Diane Smith of VA; nephew, William Mayeros of PA. Her close friend and care giver, Kimberly Douglas. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. in November; her son, Ken in 2008 and her grandson, Scott in 2010. A big hug to Mary as everyone who knew her will remember the love and acts of kindness and giving that she displayed throughout her life.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter and St. Casimir Church, State Street, burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Westfield. Calling hours are omitted.
