Things like fast food bags, boxes and soda cups or empty cigarette packages or liquor bottles or loser lottery tickets (thrown out by the real losers), etc. The next time you throw something out your window, please make the appropriate sound. Southwick: according to the newspaper, and the information that the school board and high school principal has sent around to the parents and the graduating class of 2013, it’s going to be police presence at the graduation. I don’t have a problem with this. I’m sure they’ll enjoy a good graduation as Southwick normally has. Last year, the 2012 class, yes, there was a few people, graduates, that got out of hand but it could have been taken care of if the principal and the school board were doing their job. I would say get in touch with school board member James Vincent, who used to be a principal, and then before that he was involved with the basketball/baseball programs in our town, but he has his own agenda now, as most everybody else does so he couldn’t help us, though he promised when he was running as a candidate for the school board that he would listen and try to help all residents of the town with any school matters. Like I just said, this has fallen by the wayside. You might try one of the other board members if you have a complaint, which I will hope that you will call them about this graduation that’s about to happen. This is a one-time deal for these children and the school board wants to shut it down. Let them do their job and watch the children at the top of the hill so all this doesn’t happen.
Hello PulseLine! This is my first call in many, many years. I see where the school committee is stating where they’re $800,000 short. And last week in the paper it said there were three bids for online casino the new roofs on the schools and they chose one that was twice as big as the other two. Maybe they could get that $400,000 back, OK. Bye-bye. It was two bids and coupled with a bond, which makes any overage untouchable until the project is done and it goes in front of council for retirement or repurpose. Also, the school roofs project isn”t due to finish until late August and there could be change orders. So, even if you wanted to do what you propose, the city couldn”t likely access the money until winter, which is too late for this budget. Good morning. Concerning road repair, road resurfacing, please tell me Franklin Street is on the agenda. Please. Thank you very much. The city reports that Franklin Street will only be partially paved, just the outside lanes with skim coat, as it will be getting curbs and sidewalks in the future.
Regarding today’s question, May 1, 2013, about the mayor’s job being a full-time job, I think you’re wrong. Unless the city charter has been changed, I think the mayor’s position is still considered a part-time position. Thank you.
