WESTFIELD – Joseph F. Michonski, Jr., 75, of Westfield, passed away on Friday May 31, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Westfield on November 26, 1937 to Joseph F. and Helen A. Puza-Michonski.
A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Westfield, Joe served in the US Navy and worked his entire adult life, retiring from Advance Manufacturing Co. in Westfield after 45 years, and recently managed Jayco Manufacturing after his son Joe’s passing in January of this year. Joe played many sports as a youth, loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics. He also loved music, playing and teaching accordion for many years. He was unselfish, respectful, loving, generous, and humble.
Devoted to his family, he leaves his loving wife of 50 years, Christine “Teena” Cavanaugh-Michonski, his adoring son, Gary and his wife Joanne. Words cannot express how much he loved and adored his grandchildren, Kristen, Jason, Nicole and her fiancé Joe Argiro, Kelly, Michael; step-granddaughter, Sabrina Roberts of Southwick, and great grandson J.J., all of whom loved him equally. He also leaves his sister-in-law Jeanne Jablonski, brother-in-law, William Cavanaugh of Becket, sister-in-law, Agnes Bulifant, close friend, Richard Jablonski of Southwick, long time family friend, Marion Lorenzatti, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his sons, Joseph A. in January of 2013, and a baby son, Steven in 1966.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the burial at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 203 Southampton Road, Westfield, MA.
