On Friday, the Pioneer Valley Christian School held its thirty-fourth High School Commencement Ceremonies at Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam. Twenty students representing twelve area communities received their diplomas from Mr. Timothy Duff, the school’s Headmaster. Samuel Wenninger of Ludlow is this year’s Valedictorian, and Matthew Andre of Longmeadow is this year’s Salutatorian. Sam will major in systems and computer engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, and Matthew will be majoring in broadcasting and digital media at Cedarville University, Cedarville, OH.
During the ceremony, seven faculty and staff were honored for their commitment, ranging from ten to twenty-five years of service to the school. Receiving the awards were Lindsay Witherow, Karen Boisvert, Linda Merlino, Laurie Snider, the Rev. Steven Graham, Sharon Vaillancourt, and Douglas Emerson. The invocation was giving by senior parent, Scott Hodges of Westfield, and the benediction by senior parent, the Rev. Donald Coombs of East Longmeadow. The school’s choir sang Never Alone by Burr, Buxton, and Shaw, and the Pioneer Valley Christian Bronze handbell ensemble rang Gloria Hodie arranged by Turner and McChesney. Mrs. Lynn Jefson of Enfield, CT served as the senior class advisor, and the senior class presented Mr. Duff with the gift of a flagpole for the athletic fields.
