8:15 a.m.: traffic complaint, South Maple Street at Floral Avenue, a caller reports a broken branch hanging over the roadway is creating a hazard, the responding officer reports the DPW was notified and the roadway was cleared by 9:16 a.m.;
8:18 a.m.: officer wanted, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union Street, a caller reports a male party is sleeping in the playground, the responding officer reports found a teen-aged boy who said his friend had dared him to sleep outside, the boy returned to his friend’s residence;
11:59 a.m.: disturbance, Montgomery Street, a resident came to the station to complain of an altercation with his girlfriend, the responding officer reports he spoke with the man at his residence where he said that he had allowed the mother of the child he has custody of to stay at his residence overnight and in the morning she assaulted him by punching and scratching him, a criminal complaint for assault and battery in a domestic relationship was filed, see 10:18 p.m. incident;
4:50 p.m.: assist resident, Westfield Middle School North, 350 Southampton Road, a caller reports she has locked her keys inside her running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
5:22 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from a hot dog stand outside an East Main Street hardware store reports a customer demanded a refund, the responding officer reports the employee said that a man came back to the stand with a box of food purchased earlier from another employee who had left, the woman said that the man was extremely irate and was yelling so much she was scared of the man and gave him the $50 he said he had paid for the order he was unsatisfied with;
6:27 p.m.: breaking and entering, Russell Road, a caller reports a window of his vehicle was smashed while it was parked near a Russell Road fishing hole, the responding officer reports the caller said that the victim said that although the window was smashed to gain entry nothing was found to be missing;
7:47 p.m.: assist motorists, Hampton Ponds State Park, 1048 North Road, a caller reports that multiple cars are locked inside the state park, the responding officer reports he opened the gate to allow the vehicles to leave;
8:32 p.m.: fire, Southview Terrace, a caller reports a backyard fire is filling his house with smoke, the responding fire captain reports the residents agreed to extinguish their fire after he spoke with them;
8:41 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller reports his bicycle was stolen from his workplace, the responding officer reports the man said that while he was at work his unlocked bike valued at about $200 was stolen;
10:18 p.m.: unwanted guest, Montgomery Street, a caller reports his daughter’s mother is inside his residence without permission and he was advised at the time of a similar incident to call police, the responding officer reports the woman’s mother came to take custody of her, see 11:25 a.m. Sunday incident;
11:13 p.m.: trespassing, Chapman Playground, a caller reports youths in the park, the responding officer reports he encountered three girls discussing boyfriend issues who were advised of the pertinent city ordinance and left the area;

12:03 a.m.: officer wanted, Southwick Road, a caller from a Southwick Road gas station and convenience store requests an officer because the employee is concerned about a vehicle which has been parked at the gas station for about a half hour, the responding officer reports the occupant said he was accessing the WiFi available at the business and was advised to leave the area as the business was closed;
1:18 a.m.: disturbance, Court Street, a caller reports a neighbor assaulted her boyfriend, the responding officer reports the neighbors became involved in a dispute about a stray cat, one of the participants alleged an assault but the officer saw no signs of injury, both participants were advised either could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court;
10:23 a.m.: vandalism, East Mountain Road, a caller reports someone vandalized his property by cutting down trees and shrubs, the responding officer reports the caller said that a neighbor with whom he has previously spoken about cutting trees on his property cut down about 20 trees and shrubs, the officer noted that trees and shrubs have been cut recently on all four sides of the property, the officer spoke with the suspect who admitted cutting the trees saying that he was cleaning up the property, the officer assisted the complainant with a ‘No trespassing’ order and served it to the suspect;
11:25 a.m.: assist citizen, Montgomery Street, an officer was detailed to assist as a woman gathered her property at a former residence, the officer reports that there was dispute over some of the items but the woman recovered some of her property;
Noon: city ordinance violation, Woodcliff Drive, a caller reports a neighbor has been using a sprinkler to irrigate his yard for three hours in violation of the current water use restriction, the officer reports he advised the residents of two addresses about the limitation of use of sprinklers and both stopped watering their lawns;
12:03 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by a woman who said that she had seen a youth shoplifting in a local drug store, the officer reports he located the youth in a nearby church and the suspect admitted stealing deodorant, the boy returned to the store to make payment and the officer advised his parents of the incident;
12:04 p.m.: breaking and entering, Wilson Avenue, a caller reports both cars in her driveway were entered overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that she does not know if the vehicles were locked but nothing was immediately found to be missing;
12:30 p.m.: recreational vehicle complaint, Shaker Road, a supervisory officer reports he issued a citation for operating an ATV on another person’s property;
12:37 p.m.: assist citizen, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a caller reports she has locked her keys and her dog inside her car, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
2:46 p.m.: a caller reports a customer does not have enough money to buy cigarettes and is causing a disturbance bothering other customers for money, the responding officer reports the man was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;
4:07 p.m.: disturbance, Hampton Ponds State Park, 1048 North Road, a patrol officer requests another officer to assist with disgruntled park patrons, the officer reports that numerous person were upset because they had left the park to get supplies at the nearby plaza but found when they returned to the park that it was full and they could not re-enter, a subsequent caller reports that persons turned away at the main gate are attempting to return from the boat ramp area and are blocking the roadway in that area, the responding officers report they addressed parking issues and will continue to monitor the area;
5:42 p.m.: recovered property, Elm Street, a caller reports he has seen a bike he reported stolen a few days earlier, the responding officer reports he located the bicycle in question and determined that it was the one which had been reported to have been stolen, the officer reports that the youth with the bike said that he had bought it from a friend he would only identify by a first name, the bicycle was returned to the rightful owner and the theft remains under investigation;
6:36 p.m.: larceny, Coolidge Avenue, a caller reports a bicycle was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that she had been away for the weekend and returned to find a bicycle valued at $880 had been stolen from a screened porch, the officer reports neither the porch nor the bicycle had been locked;
8:22 p.m.: suspicious activity, Pochassic Street at Pinewood Lane, a patrol officer reports he observed a parked vehicle and tracks leading toward a swimming hole, the officer reports he investigated to find two known parties returning to the vehicle with a raft and paddles, the parties were advised of previous issues in the area;
10:14 p.m.: officer wanted, Scarfo Drive, a caller reports his neighbor almost struck him with a vehicle so he threw a flashlight at the vehicle, the responding officer reports the caller said that he was in the common driveway when a neighbor drove into it and almost hit him prompting him to throw the flashlight, the motorist said via a juvenile interpreter that there have been ongoing issues with the complainant who was in the driveway when the vehicle pulled in and did not move out of the way when the operator flashed his lights, instead the man directed the light from his flashlight to the operator’s eyes and struck the vehicle in passing, a criminal complaint for malicious destruction of property was filed.
