12:06 a.m.: suspicious person Park Square, Broad Street, a person was seen apparently taking coins from the fountain at Park Square, the responding officer reports the known man was found to be in possession of 24 cents and was served a ‘No trespassing’ order;
1:40 a.m.: incapacitated person, Hampden Street, a caller reports an intoxicated female outside his home won’t leave, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had lost track of the friend she came to Westfield with and she has no phone, wallet or way to get home to Chicopee, the officer reports he was able to speak with the woman’s mother who agreed to come to the station to take custody of her daughter;
3:03 a.m.: Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a caller reports a man is beating a woman and he heard the woman on the phone calling for help, the responding officer reports the woman answered her door but said she did not know why police were there and denied the man was in the residence, the woman nonetheless allowed the officers to check her apartment and they found the suspect hiding under a bed, the officer noted a red mark on the woman and saw that one eye was turning black and blue, the woman said she sustained the injuries when the man struck her, Orlando Roman-Rodriguez, 21, of 140 Union St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
8:00 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a traffic enforcement officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
10:31 a.m.: larceny, Main Street, a call reports his daughter has taken checks from him and used them, the responding officer reports the caller said that over a period of years his daughter has taken checks from him and forged them to pay her bills, the officer reports the investigation is incomplete;
2:16 p.m.: larceny, Jefferson Street, a caller reports her son’s bicycle was stolen, the responding officer reports the unlocked bike was unattended at her residence for about an hour and has been stolen;
4:08 p.m.: fire, Great River Bridge, southbound span, a caller reports persons under the bridge have started a brush fire, the responding officer reports he identified three young women with a well contained camp fire under the bridge, the officer advised the woman that they may not have such a fire and it was extinguished before the girls left the area;
6:05 p.m.: harassment, Prospect Hill Apartments, 33 Montgomery St., a caller reports the defendant of a harassment prevention order violated the ‘No contact’ clause of the order by leaving messages on her phone, the officer reports he reviewed the messages and found the suspect at her home, Kelly Jean Gustafson, 28, of 50 Southampton Road, was arrested for violation of a protective order;
7:03 p.m.: larceny, Meadow Street, a caller reports that her son’s cell phone was stolen while he was swimming, the responding officer reports the caller said that her son left his phone with his shoes while he was swimming in the river and found it missing when he returned;
8:22 p.m.: assist other police department, a detective reports an officer from the Deerfield police department asked that he speak with a larceny victim, the detective reports the victim said that tools were stolen from a Deerfield job site and he found them at a pawn shop but the proprietor will neither release them nor sell them back to him because he says he must hold the items for a minimum of 10 days;
10:48 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a caller from a Main Street supermarket reports two shoplifters have been seen in the store, the responding officer reports he stopped one of the suspect as he exited he store but the other evaded him, the officer reports the suspect admitted taking merchandise and was found to be in possession of personal hygiene items which had not been paid for, Craig J. Centracchio, 27, of 47 Broad St., was arrested for shoplifting by asportation;
11:47 p.m.: disturbance, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a caller reports two men are fighting, the responding officer reports he encountered a male party in the playground who had been served a ‘No trespassing’ order about three weeks earlier, Zachary Phillip Johnson, 20, of 25 Berkshire Dive, was arrested for trespass, during the booking process he was found to be in possession off a small amount of marijuana and a city ordinance violation citation was issued.
