1:58 a.m.: suspicious activity, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he observed two male parties throw a carriage full of trash to the ground and then kicked the debris to scatter it, the officer reports that one of the men was identified and required to pick up all the trash and return it to the carriage, the officer reports the man agreed to push the carriage to his home so he can properly dispose of the trash;
12:58 p.m.: accident, Lockhouse Road at Buschmann Ave, a multiple callers report a hit and run accident, the responding officer reports a vehicle stopped in traffic on North Elm Street was struck in the rear by an operator who fled the scene but was found nearby on Lockhouse Road, the offending operator appeared to be highly intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, Lev Pinkhusovskiy, 48, of 19 Hancock St., was arrested for leaving the scene or a property damage accident, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, following too closely and operating an unregistered motor vehicle;
3:01 p.m.: breaking and entering, Meadow Street, a resident came to the station to report her car was broken into, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the car was unlocked when it was entered and a GPS device and loose coins were stolen;
4:40 p.m.: vandalism, Franklin Street, a caller reports someone broke into his garage, the responding officer reports the victim said that the damage was minor and nothing appears to have been stolen;
6:16 p.m.: fraud, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a resident came to the station to complain that he was victimized by an online scam, the responding officer reports the man was the victim of a “Jamaican” scam in which he thought he was applying for an online loan and was required to send “processing fees” to secure the loan, the man said that he sent the scammers about $1,000 before he realized that he was being victimized;
8:59 p.m.: incapacitated person, 80 Broadway, a patrol officer responding to an abandoned 911 call reports he encountered a person who was obviously too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;
11:03 p.m.: assist other police department, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., WSU police request the use of a cell for a male party under arrest for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of alcohol, a cell monitor was provided;

12:43 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
12:48 a.m.: traffic complaint, Meadow Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered four persons riding skateboards in the middle of the street, the responding officer reports the two teenagers found had been repeatedly warned about such behavior, the boys were transported to the station for pickup by parents and issued city ordinance violation citations;
8:26 a.m.: suspicious activity, Southampton Road, a resident came to the station to report that on Friday a friend of his wife had found several hundred dollar bills in the parking lot of a Southampton Road hostelry and surrendered the money to a clerk at the motel but when she returned to see if anyone claimed the money a different clerk did not know about the money, the responding officer reports the clerk he spoke with immediately produced a sealed envelope which contained several hundred dollar bill which were surrendered to police for safe keeping;
8:38 a.m.: vandalism, Valley View Drive at Hillside Road, an officer reports that a resident complained that for two days in a row he has found that a vehicle drove over his lawn causing damage he thinks may be intentional, the man does not require a formal report but wants the damage documented;
9:17 a.m.: unwanted guest, Danek Drive, a caller reports a friend of her son is intoxicated and was banging on her door but now is sitting in one of her porch chairs, the responding officer reports the man was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;
1:21 p.m.: burning complaint, State Street, a caller reports that neighbors are burning something and it smells like plastic, the responding fire captain reports the resident was advised of the complaint and the fire was extinguished;
1:39 p.m.: animal complaint, North Cherry Street, a caller reports she has taken custody of a stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports the beagle dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
1:50 p.m.: assist citizen, Westfield Fairgrounds, 137 Russellville Road, a caller reports she has locked her dog inside her car, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
2:41 p.m.: fire, Russell Road, a caller reports a vehicle off the road is smoking, the responding firefighters report the brush truck was needed to reach a Jeep found fully involved in flames in a field near the river, the fire captain reports that the operator of the unregistered vehicle said that she had been “four-wheeling” near the river when her Jeep got stuck in the mud and began smoking, the fire was located primarily in the engine compartment before it was extinguished;
2:29 p.m.: assist citizen, Southampton Road, a caller reports her keys and her two-year-old child are locked inside her vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
5:32 p.m.: found property, St. May’s Elementary School, 35 Bartlett St., a 12-year-old child called 911 to report finding a cell phone in the playground, the responding officer reports the phone was transported to the station for safe keeping;
5:36 p.m.: incapacitated person, East Main Street, a caller reports a customer appears to be intoxicated and may attempt to operate a motor vehicle, the responding officer reports a routine check revealed that the woman was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Susan Rivard, 40, of 168 Elm St., was arrested on the warrant;
5:42 p.m.: found property, East Main Street, a caller from a thrift store reports a donation included live ammunition, the responding officer reports he took custody of a single shotgun shell for destruction;
5:47 p.m.: illegal dumping, Pinewood Lane at Pochassic Road, a caller reports the operator of a small dump truck dumped debris at the end of the roadway, the responding officer reports that the waste included old chairs, a mattress and a table but he was unable to find any indication of who owed it, the DPW was notified to pick up the trash;
6:52 p.m.: breaking and entering, Klondike Avenue, a caller reports large male party broke into a trailer and was fighting with a woman and child, the responding officer reports he was told that a male party came to the trailer to speak with a woman who was there and was asked to leave when he menaced the woman and created a disturbance, the officer reports he was told that the man returned in search of the woman and kicked in the door but the woman left with her child via another door, the suspect eventually fled but was stopped by responding police as his vehicle was attempting to enter the turnpike, Matthew Swenor, 29, of 60 Whitman St., Chicopee, was arrested for assault and battery, breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony while putting a person in fear and vandalizing property;
6:58 p.m.: officer wanted, Monroe Street, a caller reports that a known person is banging on her door and she is afraid he will assault her, the responding officer reports the caller’s claim was not substantiated and she was abusive toward the officer while sharing her disappointment and repeatedly poked and struck the officer, when advised that she was under arrested woman resisted as the officer emplaced handcuffs, Carol A. Besnia, 53, of 11 Monroe St., was arrested for assault and battery and resisting arrest;
11:47 p.m.: animal complaint, a call reports that an opossum is in her kitchen and was advised that the problem does not lie in the animal control officer’s sphere of responsibilities, the woman was provided with contact information for a pest control specialist but she called back insisting that police help her because the commercial pest control company quoted a $400 charge, the responding officer reports the woman was told that police could not assist her.
