1:59 a.m.: found property, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., a person came to the station to surrender a Massachusetts food stamps card, the card was logged in and stored for safe keeping;
2:24 a.m.: incapacitated person, Orange Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a female party passed out on couch which had apparently been abandoned on the tree belt, the officer reports the woman was provided a courtesy transport to her Meadow Street residence where her roommate agreed to take custody of her;
12:49 p.m.: unwanted customer, East Main Street, as caller reports a man who is believed to have shoplifted merchandise in the past is in the store and manager would like him to be served with a ‘No trespassing’ order, the responding officer reports the suspect had left the store but was found nearby, the officer reports the man admitted having stolen from the store in the past but said he did not take anything that day, the officer reports a pat frisk revealed no stolen merchandise, a ‘No trespassing’ order was served;
1:46 p.m.: larceny, Bancroft Apartments, 125 Main Street, a resident came to the station to complain that her medication had been stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said she was away from the city and asked a friend to collect a prescription so she would have it upon her return, the woman said that she provided access to her apartment for her friend so he could leave the medication there, the woman said that when she returned she found not only her medication missing but also jewelry and a laptop computer were gone;
3:00 p.m.: officer wanted, Otis Street, a caller reports she had noted items of hers to be missing after she allowed a friend to stay with her, the woman said that she searched the man’s backpack while he was away and found property belonging to her valued at about $1,000, the woman said that she does not wish to pursue criminal charges;
6:35 p.m.: disturbance, Edgewood Apartments, 138 Union St., a caller reports her son-in-law threw her out of his apartment but she wants to return to gather some belongings, the responding officer reports the caller, her son-in-law and witnesses agreed that the woman struck her son-in-law who defended himself by containing her, Sheryl Christine Thayer, 52, of 134 Union St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic disturbance;
11:52 p.m.: officer wanted, Sackett Road, a caller reports his girlfriend is intoxicated and attempted to drive home so he slashed her tires to prevent her from driving, the responding officer reports the woman was not found at the residence but the caller’s parents said that she could stay there if and when she walks back;

1:49 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at an excessive speed and stopped the car, the officer reports the operator appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, Edwin Martinez, 34, of 58 Pearl St., Springfield, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, negligent operating of a motor vehicle, speeding in violation of special regulations and a marked lanes violation;
2:29 a.m.: vandalism, Kellogg Street, a caller reports a known female party came to his apartment and broke a window, the responding officer reports the caller said that he was told by a witness that a woman with whom he had a disagreement earlier in the evening came to his residence and broke a window;
3:17 a.m.: suspicious activity, South Maple Street, a caller reports that youths outside are making noise and said something about starting a fire, the responding officer reports that he transported three youths to a Bush Street address and surrendered them to the parents of one of the boys, a fourth participant who was found to be an adult was sent on his way
9:47 a.m.: accident, Union Street, a caller reports seeing an operator pass out and saw the vehicle subsequently strike a fence or guard rail on Union Street, the responding officer reports the operator continued driving after crashing into a fence near the salt piles, the operator said that he was tired and fell asleep, a criminal complaint for negligent operation of a motor vehicle was filed;
3:14 p.m.: found property, a resident came to the station to surrender a debit card found in a Franklin Street parking lot, the responding officer reports nobody came to the door of the owner’s apparent address so the card was held at the station for safe keeping;
4:23 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Fire Department, 34 Broad St., firefighters report that a person came to the fire station to surrender a found husky dog, a responding animal control officer reports he took custody of the dog and transported it the municipal animal shelter;
5:57 p.m.: animal complaint, Sunset Drive, a caller reports that her pit bull dog got loose and when she tried to regain control of the dog it tried to bite her, the caller said that she no longer wants the dog, the director of animal control operations responded and reports that it is her responsibility to dispose of her property and the animal control department cannot assist her with dog since she is unwilling to pay the required fee to surrender the dog;
10:07 p.m.: assist other police department, Frederick Street, Southwick police request assistance contacting a city resident whose car appears to have been abandoned in their community, the responding officer reports the owner of the vehicle stated that it had been lent to a friend and that she and her husband will immediately go to take custody of it.
