10:07 a.m.: larceny, Blue Sky Drive, a resident reports via the online reporting option that she believes her estranged husband has stolen her mail, the woman reports that her husband signed for a certified letter sent by her family members which had contained a check and later told her he does not know what he did with it, a search of trash revealed photocopies of other mail which she had not received;
11:05 a.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a caller from a submarine sandwich shop reports money was stolen from her tip jar, the responding officer reports the caller said that about $4 was stolen from the tip jar on the counter, a review of the store’s security video showed a known customer taking money from the jar, the officer reports his investigation is ongoing;
11:38 a.m.: identity fraud, Falley Drive, a resident reports via the online reporting option that his credit card was fraudulently used online, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the vendor cancelled the transaction, the man said that the incident is the second time recently that his credit card was compromised and he has again cancelled his credit card account;
11:58 a.m.: assist other police department, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., a detective reports that a suspect interviewed at the city’s police department by Chicopee and state police was arrested as a courtesy to Chicopee police, Dennis O. Rosa-Roman, 22, of 94 Pearl St., Springfield, was arrested for murder and surrendered to the custody of Chicopee police;
1:10 p.m.: animal complaint, Otis Street, the director of animal control operations reports he advised Otis Street residents that they may not keep chickens and they must be removed from the property by Friday;
4:12 p.m.: disturbance, Broad Street, a caller reports a neighbor has been dumping leaves and lawn debris on his property despite his protests, the responding officer reports the resident was not home but he left a message with a family member, the caller subsequently reported that the resident had returned home and the officer found that the man’s neighbor disputes the location of the property line but agreed to move the leaves, the officer reports he advised the caller that the small claims court is the appropriate venue to resolve his ongoing dispute with his neighbor;
5:20 p.m.: unauthorized burning, Day Avenue, a supervisory officer reports a large fire in a Day Avenue backyard, the officer reports that he found that a resident was cutting wood and burning the branches in an open pit, the officer reports the man was advised to stop feeding the fire and let it burn out, the man said he would comply;
5:57 p.m.: narcotics investigation, East Mountain Road, a detective reports that the target of an ongoing investigation was stopped while operating his car on East Mountain Road and was found to be in possession of small amounts of heroin and cocaine, Larry J. Saccamando Jr., 54. Of 189 Springfield Road, was arrested for possession of a Class A drug and for possession of a Class B drug;
7:54 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, Westgate Plaza, a caller reports an occupied truck has been parked near his store for the past hour, the respond officer reports the two occupants were taking advantage of a ‘hot’ wi-fi area near the store but agreed to leave.
