HUNTINGTON – The Gateway Regional High School wrestling team wrapped up the regular season Wednesday with a 26-12 loss to visiting South Hadley.

With a small squad, injuries, and illness, only four matches were held – the Terriers won all four.

In the first match of 106 pounders, South Hadley’s Tom Antones pinned Gateway’s Mikey Scuderi early. In the second match, Terriers’ Bobby O’Connell (132 pounds) toppled Kenny Bourbon in 2:16. Nick Rojas toppled Andrew Goszkowicz in 1:52.

In the most contested match, 152-pounders’ Sam Rexer (Gators) battled Carter Levreault to the end. Rexer fell behind 2-0 after the first period, only 4-0 after two, and lost just 6-0 late.

Gateway will now prepare for this weekend’s Western Massachusetts Division III championships.

In other action, Southwick-Tolland hosted Sabis and Westfield traveled to Cathedral to take on the Panthers. No results were provided prior to deadline.

BOMBERS HOST D1 CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Western Massachusetts Division I championships will be held this Saturday at Westfield High School, beginning at 9 a.m. The final round is slated to begin about 6:30 p.m.
