8:02 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed to the police impound yard;
8:57 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed;
10:18 a.m.: fraud, Parker Avenue, a resident came to the station to report she was the victim of an attempted scam, the responding officer report the woman said that she had applied for a job online and her new ‘employer’ sent her two checks totaling $2,950, the woman said that she was instructed to send a third party an $1,800 money order but a clerk at a wire transfer company warned her that she was being scammed so she sent no money, the woman was notified by her bank that the check she had cashed was fraudulent;
10:49 a.m.: medical emergency, Union Street, a caller reports an employee is hanging from a conveyor belt, see story in the Thursday edition of The Westfield News;
12:21 p.m.: water complaint, West Silver Street, a caller reports water is shooting from the ground next to a house, the responding officer requests a Water Department response, the officer reports a water pipe for a sprinkler system had burst but the water department employee was able to shut off the water flow;
4:40 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Bates Road, a patrol officer reports a motorcycle stop, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to have been revoked for speeding tickets, a criminal complaint was filed and the motorcycle was transported to the police impound yard;
10:31 p.m.: accident, Lindbergh Boulevard, an officer reports a motor vehicle operator has intentionally crashed into two vehicles one of which was a police cruiser, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News.
