SPRINGFIELD – American International College (AIC) will induct 10 standout athletes and two teams into the AIC Athletics Hall of Fame on Sat., Oct. 5. The AIC Hall of Fame recognizes alumni and others who have distinguished themselves through outstanding participation in the AIC athletic program, have been instrumental in contributing to the development of student athletes, or have made a major contribution to intercollegiate athletics.
The Hall of Fame additionally recognizes those who continued to distinguish themselves after graduation through professional achievement or meritorious community service and who serve as outstanding examples of the type of character, courage, leadership, and well-rounded individuals whom AIC seeks to develop through its athletic programs.
The 2019 AIC inductees are Bob Rutherford ’70, Basketball; Clem W. Morrison ’73, Ice Hockey; Robert E. Bramble III ’81, Football; Christopher S. O’Connor ’84, baseball; Richard F. Bedard ’86, administrator and coach; Jaime Marques ’01, soccer; Dominic D. Smith ’12, track and field; Kervelle C. Redhead ’12, MBA’13, volleyball; and Alison M. Fitzsimmons ’14, MBA ’15, soccer. The ’96 and ’97 softball teams will also be inducted.
The event will be held in the John O’Donnell ’56 and Nancy O’Donnell Hall of Fame Room in the Henry A. Butova Gymnasium at 125 Cortland Street, Springfield, MA, with a cocktail reception beginning at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. with the induction ceremony beginning at 8 p.m.
