WESTFIELD: Aldo F. Orlandi, 78, (1942-2021) of Westfield passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021 at home surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer for the past three years.
Aldo was born on December 25, 1942 in Westfield. He retired from the Westfield School System after 42 years as a math teacher. After retirement he worked ten years at Westfield Home & Garden. Al’s passion for gardening was evident in his park-like grounds surrounding his home. Spring was his favorite season, followed by summer, vacationing with family by the ocean on Cape Cod and Maine.
Aldo leaves his loving wife Karen T. (Flannery) Orlandi. Together, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 20, 2021. He leaves two children, his son Christopher J. Orlandi and wife Alanna C. Orlandi and daughter Jaime K. Avery and husband Matthew T. Avery. Four grandchildren: Andrew D. Orlandi, Anthony A. Orlandi, Nolan M. Avery and Reese E. Avery. He also leaves his sister Karen O. Hatch, sister-in-law Gail Stenta and brother-in-law Richard Stenta, brother-in-law Bob Flannery and sister-in-law Irene Flannery, and many nieces and nephews. Aldo was predeceased by his parents Aldo L. Orlandi (2015) and Eleanor M. Orlandi (2019).
A Funeral Mass for Aldo will be held on Thursday at 11AM in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett St., Westfield. Visiting hours will precede the Mass from 9-10:30 AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St., Westfield. Burial will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield.
