Alleged assault Saturday night sends one to hospital

WESTFIELD–According to police, an alleged assault Saturday night resulted in one person being transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

According to Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe, a person was reportedly assaulted Saturday night, with the alleged victim reporting the incident to police after walking into the station shortly after 7:30 p.m.

According to police, the victim was allegedly assaulted by three males in the vicinity of East Bartlett Street and Phelps Avenue. Police reported that the victim claimed that one male party had approached him and initially threw him to the ground, then allegedly began punching him.

Then, two additional males allegedly started punching and kicking him, as well, according to McCabe, with them saying that “this is their neighborhood.”

In addition to the alleged assault, the victim also reported having $29 taken from them.

McCabe reported that the victim had sustained “considerable injuries” and was transported to Baystate Medical Center due to these injuries.
