Westfield – Alvyn G. Reed, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday at home surrounded by his loving family.  Alvyn was born April 19, 1936 in Pawtucket, RI to the late Charles and Christine “Merle” Reed.  His family later moved to Manchester N.H. where he graduated high school.  Alvin was a member of the Boy Scouts, where he rose to the level of Eagle Scout.  He also served in the National Guard and became a policeman for awhile afterwards.  His other jobs included working at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft , H.P. Hood Inc. and a long stint of driving for the Consolidated Freight company from which he retired.  He was also a self employed salesman and loved to deal in die cast cars and assorted novelties.  Al was a born tinkerer and enjoyed the challenge of fixing whatever needed his attention.  He was a man of many opinions, all of them right of course.  Alvyn is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Lorriane “Dutra” Reed , three children from his first marriage: Deborah Lockhart, Robert Reed and John Reed and six step-children : Michael Annis, Kathy Annis, Sheila Paquette, Eileen Gamelli, David Annis and Shawn Annis.  He was the cherished grandfather to 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and Ruby (the cat.)  He was predeceased by his mother and father, Charles and Merle Reed and a son, Alvyn (buddy) Reed Jr.  The funeral for Alvyn will be private.  Westfield Funeral Home and Cremation has been entrusted with these arrangements.  Please visit www.westfieldfuneralhome.com for Alvyn’s memorial page.
