Angelo J. Furioni

WESTFIELD: Angelo J. Furioni, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 24, 2021. He was born May 7th, 1938, lived most of his life in Westfield, MA.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1958, he worked as a Custodian at St. Mary’s Parish School for 7 years before working for the Westfield School System for 38 years and retiring in 2002. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a longtime member of St. Rocco’s and the Italian Fraternal Club. His favorite thing was spending time with family and friends but especially his grandchildren. After retiring, he became a vacationing resident at Wells Beach, ME. He was an avid fan of both Notre Dame Football and UCONN Girls Basketball. He enjoyed gardening, dabbled in woodworking and was passionate about both soup making and his daily coffee group at Dunkin’ Donuts.

Angelo leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Makula) Furioni and is survived by his children; James Furioni and his wife Lynn of Westfield, AnnMarie Furioni of Holyoke , Patricia Eidinger and her husband Scott of Westfield, Sharon Furioni of Bennington VT, and Robert Furioni and his wife Shannon of Westfield. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren; Anna, Jason and David Furioni, Cooper Mason, and Andrew and Elyse Eidinger. He is also survived by his sister Carol Deedy and Gordie Sullivan of Florida & Massachusetts along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-7 pm at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Friday at 10:30 am. Burial service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Angelo’s name to the St. Mary’s Parish School, 35 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA 01085 or the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
