Ann M. (Onofrey) Balch

WESTFIELD – Ann M. (Onofrey) Balch, 78, died peacefully on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, at Baystate Noble Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Westfield on January 12th, 1946, to the late Charles Onofrey and Rita (Pierce) Onofrey.  She is a lifelong Westfield resident and attended Westfield Public Schools.

Ann married her sweetheart, Albert O. “Butch” Balch and was a homemaker and loving mother to two sons, David B. Balch and Michael J. Balch.
Later, she enjoyed a long and joyful career working part-time as a retail and marketing specialist for companies such as Eastern Sales & Marketing (ESM), forming cherished friendships along the way.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Ann enjoyed family camping trips, relaxing at the beach, and going to the casino with her husband and friends.  She was a devoted dog owner and shared unconditional love for each of them.

Ann treasured her role as a grandmother finding joy watching endless football and lacrosse games, dance recitals, and cheer competitions.

Her memory will forever be imprinted on the lives of her sons and their families, David B. Balch and wife, Kimberley of Litchfield, NH, Michael J. Balch and wife Michelle of Feeding Hills, MA, grandchildren Sydney M. Balch-Tomkins and husband Stu Tomkins, Madeleine S. Balch, Mason Balch, Chloe Balch, Jaxson Balch and Blake Balch.

Ann was adored by her nieces and nephews, Karen Onofrey and her husband Brian Cote of Solana Beach, CA, Christine (Onofrey) Robertson and her husband Derek of Auburn, MA, Denise (Onofrey) Moore and her husband Kurt of Denver, CO, Michael Hebda and his wife Leah of Westfield, JoEllen Evans of Ludlow and Ann’s Goddaughter, Ann Marie Converse of Three Rivers, MA.

She leaves behind her sister, Eileen Hebda and husband Michael Hebda of Westfield, her sisters in-law Eileen (Lynch) Onofrey of Port Charlotte, FL and Ellen Pelletier of Three Rivers, MA.

As we bid farewell, we are at peace knowing she will be reunited with her loving husband of 43 years Butch, and her brothers Charles “Chuck” Onofrey, James Onofrey, and John Onofrey.

A memorial Mass for Ann will be held on Monday, March 4th, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield, MA.  Firtionadams.com
