Anna J. Aucella

AGAWAM – Anna Josephine (Rueli) Aucella, 90, (1930-2020) passed away peacefully, from natural causes, and surrounded by her loving family, on August 17, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Francesco & Josephine (Romeo) Rueli. Born in Springfield, Anna attended Springfield schools before graduating from the High School of Commerce. She married the love of her life, Phillip “Babe” Armando Aucella, in 1950, spending 61 wonderful years together, before his passing in 2011.

Anna worked as a clerk for the State of Massachusetts’ Welfare Department, for 25 years. She was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (OLMCC), where she was a lifelong member of their choir. Anna was also Financial Secretary for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a member of the OLMCC Women’s Guild, a founding committee member of Taste of Italy, and Chairperson of the South End Golden Age Club. Anna spent many enjoyable times with her grandchildren and always made each one feel special. She also loved to travel. As a family, we will miss the colorful discussions about her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, her 4 course holiday meals, meatballs & pasta on Wednesdays, and her endless assortment of delicious cookies.

Anna is survived by her sons, Phillip & wife Gail of Westfield, Robert & wife Sandi of Agawam, John & wife Maria of Springfield, and Frank & wife Catherine of MD, daughter, Rosanne Kudlic of Agawam, brother, Armando Rueli of HI, sister, Pauline Innarelli of Agawam, loving grandchildren, Michael, Dianna, Christina, Rachele, Dina, Angelo, Tiffany, Stephanie, Claire, Grace, & Brianna, and beloved great-grandchildren, Luka, Ella, Charlie, Andrew, Haley & Stevie. She will also be dearly missed by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. Sadly, Anna was also predeceased by several brothers & sisters, and her son-in-law William Kudlic.

Family and friends are invited to Anna’s Liturgy of Christian Burial, Monday, August 24, 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield; masks & social distancing required.
