Lady Bombers roll to 2-0

The Westfield High School softball team is now home to a pair of undefeated flame-throwers.
Westfield pitcher Kate Menard scattered five hits, struck out seven batters and walked one in the Bombers’ 9-2 win over Holyoke on Wednesday at McKenzie Field. Teammate Sarah McNerney (10 Ks) picked up the win on the mound Monday.
Westfield, which improved to 2-0 with the victory, played an errorless game.
“There were some good things,” Westfield coach Joe Stella said. “We still have things to work on, but we will get there.”
The offense is already in a bit of a groove.
Maddie Atkociatis, Emily Chrzanowski (RBI), Heather White (RBI), Liz Gale (RBI), Jules Sharon (RBI), and Kaitlyn Puza (RBI) all had two hits apiece for Westfield yesterday. Ashley Therriault also had a run-scoring hit.
On Monday, Westfield clubbed 14 runs against East Longmeadow in the Whip City home opener. It was the Bombers’ first road game Wednesday.
Southwick-Tolland Regional traveled to Ware to take on the Lady Indians. No information was available as of press time.
