SOUTHWICK – Barbara E. (Rutka) Stromgren, 84, passed away at her home on January 19, 2013. She was born in Westfield to the late Edward and Nellie (Lambson) Rutka and was a graduate of Westfield High School.
Barbara worked as the Secretary for the Superintendent of the Southwick Public Schools for over 20 years. She was an active member of Southwick Congregational Church.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman C. Stromgren on April 22, 2006 and is survived by her loving children, Kevin C. Stromgren and his wife Nina of Granville, Keith N. Stromgren and his wife Jeanne and Karin E. Stromgren, all of Southwick; her brother, Fredrick Rutka and sister Shirley Ann Cook, both of Southwick; her 6 cherished grandchildren, Rena, Cayce, Jared, Ashlyn, Jimmy and Jennifer and her 5 great-grandchildren, Ayslin, Lexi, Hannah, Madi and Chloe. Barbara’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff from Hospice of Western Mass especially Veronica Lynch.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Southwick Congregational Church, College Highway, Southwick.
