Bernard E. Currier

Currier, Bernard obit photoSOUTHWICK – Bernard E. Currier, 81, died on August 16, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chesterville, Maine, the son of Ethel (Lathrop) and Charles Currier.
He lived most of his life in Southwick. He served as a storekeeper in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950-1954. Bernard was a tractor trailer truck driver for 45 years and a state inspector of motor vehicle for 10 years with Prifty Motors before retiring in 2010. Bernard loved to garden, he usually harvested enough vegetables to feed his family and friends for months. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and a loyal Red Sox fan. He and his family used to camp, and along with his longtime friend, Neil Moulton, they were always there to help or fix anything for anyone.
Bernard leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (Webster) Currier, he will be sadly missed by his daughters, Roxanne Cook and fiancé George Zanolli, Patricia Banasik and her husband Theodore of Southwick and Cynthia Breton and her husband David of Westfield. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Tina, Jason, Sonya and Melissa; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Haley, and Damon. Additionally he leaves his sisters, Ida Marie Millett and Altene Edwards of Maine and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Oscar Dudley, Eugene and Floyd Currier and his sister, Elsie Day.
A Funeral Home ceremony will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick followed by burial in New Cemetery, College Highway Southwick. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
