Bernice W. Florek

WESTHAMPTON – Bernice W. Florek, of Westhampton MA and well known for her love of Cardinals & Family, died peacefully at the age of 84 with family by her side at Baystate Medical Center on January 16th, 2025.

Bernie was born in Northampton MA in 1940 to the late Richard and Geneva (Blakesley) Warren. She graduated from Northampton High School and followed with a lifetime career of raising a family and working as a secretary, most notably at HRHS, Smith College, Northampton VA Medical Center and the law firm of Gerard, Ghazey & Bates. She was a member of the Westhampton Congregational Church from the age of 14 where she sang in the choir and served as a deaconess and as a member of various committees.

Bernie was an active, dedicated and strong, wife, mother and friend. She was passionate about spending time with family. She believed deep in her heart that family was not only defined by blood but by the love that binds people together. She proved that sentiment over the years by being a second mom to so many (you know who you are).

Bernie is survived by the “love of her life” Charles Florek with whom she shared 66 ½ years of marriage and nearly 70 years of friendship and devotion. She is also survived by her children (spouses/partners) Rich (Holly) Florek, Holly Florek (Elaine Harrison), Geneva (Rich) Pedersen, Amy (Megan) Florek, Tim (Lisa) Florek, and Natalie (Jon) Poirier. She also leaves behind her sister Lorraine Spencer, a brother-in-law Donald Barret and many grandchildren; Josh and Krystal Pedersen, Kiersten and Derek Revord, Charlie Florek, Riley Florek, Ben Florek, Alex Florek, Gallivan Florek and Emerson Folta, Tim Florek, Leo Florek, Isabelle (Timothy) Mullane and Luc Poirier; as well as five great-grandchildren Harper and Haakon Pedersen, Mila and Camden Revord and Emilia Mullane.

Bernie is predeceased by her parents Richard and Geneva (Blakesley) Warren, her sister Ernestine Munson, and two brothers-in-law, Frank Munson and Roland Spencer.

Boucher-O’brien Funeral Home in Easthampton is working with the family to fulfill Bernie’s end of life wishes. There will be no Calling Hours, Funeral Services or Burial. All are welcome to attend her Memorial Service which will be held at the Westhampton Congregational Church at 1 Tob Hill Road, Westhampton, MA 01027, on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025 at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to the Westhampton Congregational Church Organ Fund and mailed to the above address.
