WEST SPRINGFIELD—Beryl J. Chapman, 74, (1945 – 2019) formerly of Westfield, died Monday, July 29, at Wingate in West Springfield after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Born in Springfield, MA, she was a 1963 graduate of Westfield High and a 1974 graduate of UMass Amherst. Beryl was a computer programmer who worked for many of the area’s leading banks and insurance companies, including Mass Mutual, Cigna, and Bank of America. She was a loving spouse, doting parent, devoted daughter, and caring friend. Beryl was a fierce advocate for herself and those she loved. She was an avid decorator, relished time spent at the Maine shore, adored her dogs, and had a keen eye for a good sale. She was clever, meticulous, and generous of spirit. She is survived by her husband, James D. Chapman, one son, David Jurkowski Hudson and his wife Cynthia, of Bedford, NH, a sister, Bonnie Dion Heinrich and her husband James of Ocala, FL, two grandchildren, Avery and Riley Hudson, and two nephews, Matthew & Timothy Dion, and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Wallace F. Hudson in 1984 and Elaine C. Sevey in 2010. Funeral services for Beryl will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 12:00 pm at the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St, Westfield, MA. A visiting hour and a half for family & friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:30 am. Burial in Russell Cemetery will be immediately following the service.
