Betty Lou Shepard

CHAPEL HILL, NC: Betty Lou (Keller) Shepard, age 79, died December 22, 2015 at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill, after a battle with rheumatoid arthritis and interstitial lung disease. She was born in Danville, VA on August 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Cleveland Keller and Horry (Brown) Keller. She moved to Westfield during high school and was a lifelong resident here, married to the late John W. Shepard of Westfield for over 40 years. She was employed for many years at Stanley Home Products in Westfield and Easthampton. She volunteered for many area organizations including the public schools, Forum House of Westfield, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) of Western MA and the Salvation Army. She was a member of Christ the King Church in Westfield.

Betty Lou is survived by her sister, Agnes (Keller) Cook and niece Kathy (Cook) Arrington of Westfield, and her children Warren E. Shepard and Rachel M. (Shepard) Vermes and her partner Eric Broscka, all of Westfield, and John (Clay)ton Shepard and his wife Emily of Snow Camp, NC. Betty Lou has 2 grandchildren, Joshua Shepard of Burlington, NC and Jeffrey Shepard in Roanoke, VA.

There will be a memorial service for Betty Lou @ Christ the King Church, 297 Russell Rd, Westfield on Saturday, January 30th at 10:00 am. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to NAMI of Western MA, the Forum House and/or Christ the King Church in Westfield.”
