Bouyea, Colburn and Pepek move ahead

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Army National Guard Pvt. Christian M. Bouyea has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. Bouyea is the son of William Bouyea of Union Street, Westfield and Sandra Cardinale of Dennison Street, Somers, Conn. He is the grandson of Joelle Iennaco of Feltham Road, Springfield, Mass. He is a 2009 graduate of Westfield High School.

Westfield Resident Heather M. Colburn Named to Binghamton University Dean’s List

BINGHAMTON, NY – Heather M. Colburn of Westfield, MA, received academic honors from the Decker School of Nursing at Binghamton University by making the University’s Dean’s List for the Fall 2012 semester. Binghamton University is one of the four university centers of the State University of New York. Known for the excellence of its students, faculty, staff and programs, Binghamton enrolls close to 15,000 students in programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Its curriculum, founded in the liberal arts, has expanded to include selected professional and graduate programs.

BOSTON – Maura E. Pepek of Westfield was recently accepted in to the Child Life Specialist dual degree Masters Program at Wheelock College in Boston. Currently a sophomore at Wheelock, she has been volunteering at Children’s Hospital Boston and also is a member of Pi Gamma Mu, an international honor society in social science. Maura is a 2011 graduate of Westfield High School and the daughter of Bonnie and Patrick Pepek of Westfield
