Breakfast with Santa to be served Dec. 5

WESTFIELD – Now in its 32nd year, the Westfield State University Foundation and the Westfield State Circle K Club will host its popular Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 5.
“It’s a holiday/Christmas special event with nothing but fun,” said Ken Magarian, director of Advancement, Alumni & University Relations. Magarian serves as faculty advisor to Circle K and assists the club with events throughout the year. Circle K is a campus community service organization sponsored by the Greater Westfield Kiwanis Club and the Student Government Association of Westfield State.
The college’s Scanlon Banquet Hall will be the setting for two seatings, at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., featuring a full breakfast buffet. Tickets are $7 for children and $9 for adults and can be purchased only at westfield.ma.edu/tickets. A table seating for eight can also be purchased for $70.
Along with breakfast, admission includes face painting, a gift for each child, and entertainment by the Melha clowns from Shriners Hospital. Photos can be purchased for an additional fee and a raffle will be conducted during the event.
“Besides the big guy dressed in a red fur coat, there are always the favorite Melha clowns engaging children and making them special figure balloons,” said Magarian.
Circle K members will also serve as Santa’s elves and conduct an arts and crafts table where children can make a holiday craft to take home.
“We also have a special North Pole Mailbox for the youngsters to write and mail their letter to Santa, and more elves will paint up the children’s faces,” said Magarian.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Dec. 3. There are 295 tickets available and are sold on a first come, first served basis. Adults purchasing tickets online are reminded to print out the confirmation and bring it to the breakfast when checking in.
Any net proceeds from the event benefit charities including the New England Pediatric Trauma Institute in Boston and Camp Sunshine in Maine.
“We keep the price and cost to a minimum each year even with expenses going up,” said Magarian, adding the sponsors “really help us out.”
This year’s sponsors are MedExpress Urgent Care, Easthampton Savings Bank, The Westfield News Group, and additional donations from the Greater Westfield Kiwanis Club and Westfield Bank.
In the event of snow, Breakfast with Santa will be conducted Dec. 6.
Breakfast with Santa is part of a collaboration between Westfield State and Dickens Days, a month-long holiday celebration throughout the city.
