Breathe: An Evening of Meditation and Positive Energy at the Cancer House of Hope

WEST SPRINGFIELD – CHD’s Cancer House of Hope will host an introductory session to meditation and Reiki for the newly diagnosed and cancer survivors.

The session, entitled “Breathe,” led by Dr. Danielle M. Lipoff, a breast surgeon at Baystate Medical Center, will take place Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. at 1999 Westfield St., West Springfield.

This will be the Cancer House of Hope’s first Reiki session featuring Dr. Lipoff, a master-level Reiki practitioner.

Research shows that guided meditation can be an important component for physical and emotional wellness on several fronts: coping with a new diagnosis, during treatment and for longer-term peace of mind for survivors.

The session will begin with guided meditation to reach the optimal meditative state. Lipoff will then facilitate the transfer of Reiki energy to each participant. The light touch-to-no touch method of Reiki will direct a unique, relaxing experience for each.

“Some may visualize the energy, while others feel calm and at peace. Experience this wonderful sensation which always works for one’s highest good,” Lipoff said.

During her surgical training, Lipoff explored and embraced alternative and integrative medicine and saw profound effects on her patients’ overall well-being. She continues to encourage all her patients to incorporate complementary healing methods into their treatment plans.

The session is free and open to the public. Call 413-733-1858 for more information and to register in advance.
