Brendon “Bud” Cloran

WESTFIELD – Brendon “Bud” Cloran, 97, passed away October 25, 2022, at Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born in 1925 in West Springfield, MA. He attended local schools, and on the day he graduated high school, at age 18, he enlisted in the Army. Brendon was honored to have been part of The Normandy Invasion and was fortunate to have made it back home after being injured during that invasion. He was a double Purple Heart recipient and was also awarded a Bronze Star for his service of 1943-1946. Brendon was a mail carrier in Agawam for 37 years and was known as “Bud the Mailman”. If you lived in Agawam, you knew Bud. He also worked at Betty’s Townhouse as a bartender, and Durocher’s Florist as a delivery man. Bud was a people’s person, so these jobs suited him perfectly. He loved fishing and spent many a day on the waters in his boat, at Otis Reservoir, Big Pond, and Dayville Dam with his fishing buddy “Chet”. There were a few unforgettable experiences on Lake Ontario with son-in-law Jim also.

Brendon leaves his wife of 45 years, Maxine Cloran, his children Debra Cecchini (Doug), Holly Pohner (Gerald), Jeffrey Cloran (Michelle), Jill Rust (Bob), stepchildren Patti Garlo (Jim), Denise Hills-McGarry (Clyde). He leaves 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Nelson, grandson Samuel Pohner, and granddaughter Sarah (Lemanski) Canterbury.
