GRANVILLE- Carolyn R. Pothier (nee Thornton) 69, (1947-2016) passed away at her home on Sunday August 14, 2016; surrounded by the love of her family.
Carolyn was born in Albany, New York on February 14, 1947; a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Rose Thornton (nee Renaud) . She was a 40 year resident of Granville.
Carolyn retired four years ago, from Baystate Health, Springfield; where she was employed as a Hospice Palliative Nurse’s Aide.
Carolyn was a member of the Westfield Alliance Church, in Westfield.She enjoyed singing at the church and along with her husband, lent their talents as puppeteers both at the church and in convalescent homes. She was an avid flower gardener.
Her greatest joy was the love she shared with her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition, Carolyn is survived by her husband of 47 devoted years, Philip A. Pothier; her children, son, Benjamin Pothier of Minneapolis, MN, 2 daughters, Ruth Pothier of South Carolina, Rebekah Ludwig of Helotes, TX; a sister and brother in law, Elaine and Kenneth Carrington of Huntington, MA; three brothers, Louis Thornton of Kentucky, George Thornton of West Springfield, David Thornton of Florida. Carolyn was predeceased in 1996 by a brother, Willis Thornton of Southwick.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in the Westfield Alliance Church, Westfield. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. There are no calling hours and a private family interment will be at a later date.
