SOUTHWICK – Carrie L. (Griffith) Arnold, 92, formerly of 151 Sheep Pasture Road, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born and educated in Springfield, Carrie was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, and had been a resident of Southwick for over 55 years.
Carrie, along with her late husband William P. Arnold, invested a large portion of their farm to build Edgewood Golf Course in Southwick and continued to assist in the daily management and operation of the golf course. She was a member of the Southwick Congregational Church, a member of the “Tuesday Morning Club”, enjoyed a lifelong interest in birds, and was an avid opera enthusiast.
She is survived by a son, Stephen E. Arnold and his wife Linda of Southwick, MA; two grandchildren, Stephanie R. Taylor and her husband Scott of Waterville, ME, and Alena M. Mayranen and her husband Eric of Lake Mary, FL; and three great-grandchildren, George & Milo Taylor, and Ashlynn Mayranen.
Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Carrie on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southwick Congregational Church, 484 College Highway, Southwick, MA. Burial in New Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 29th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southwick Congregational Church, 484 College Highway, Southwick, MA 01077.
