Catherine Kelley

WESTFIELD: Catherine lost her seventeen year battle with stage four breast cancer. Her family, friends, and many nieces and nephews helped her fight this disease. She was born in Buckinghamshire, England on August 14, 1946.She is predeceased by her father Thomas O’Sullivan, mother Catherine (Harrington) and brother Daniel P. O’Sullivan. She is survived by her siblings: sisters Mary Burke Hansen (Richard) of Russell, Margaret Bagge (John) of Springfield, Eileen O’Sullivan of Suffield; and brothers Thomas (Erika), and John (Eileen) of Springfield.
She leaves her loving husband of 45 years, Robert of Westfield, son Christopher and his wife Jessica of Melrose, MA and their two much loved grandchildren Amelia and Conor.
Catherine was a 1964 graduate of Springfield Technical High School.  While raising a family Cathy returned to school and excelled at Western New England College, graduating in 1986.
She worked at the Monarch Insurance Company and was proud to have been voted Manager of the Year. She ended her working career at the Center for Human Development in 2009. She loved her job and co-workers. In addition to wintering in Key West she loved reading, her grandchildren, her flower gardens, traveling and meeting people. As a result, Cathy’s friends span near and far. The family would like to thank Dr. David Bishop and the Oncology Dept. at RiverBend Medical Group as well as the Mercy Hospital Infusion staff at the Weldon Center.  They are truly special people. We also ask you to support your local blood bank. The funeral for Catherine will be held on Monday January 11th at 9:30 am From the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery, Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 2-5 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Catherine may be made to The Cancer House of Hope, 1999 Westfield Street, West Springfield, MA 01089 or to The Sisters of St. Joseph’s Retirement Fund, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
