Catherine M. “Kay” McKemmie

WESTFIELD – Catherine M. “Kay” McKemmie, 86, (1936-2023)  passed away peacefully in Springfield MA on October 8th, 2023, with her niece Cathy by her side. She was born in Westfield MA on October 26th, 1936, one of eleven children to the late Daniel and Catherine (Pierce) Curran.

She was predeceased by her husband Bruno Fioroni and her husband Thomas “Tommy” McKemmie as well as her brothers Danny, Billy, Jack, Tommy, Patty and sister Rita.

She is survived by stepchildren David, Phil, Lenny, Billy, Danny and Nancy, grandson David, brothers Richard, Robert, Bernard and sister Judi, as well as beloved brothers and sisters in-laws and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Westfield, Kay went on to study at the Springfield Technical Institute (now STCC) and become a dental assistant. After many years she left her dental career and worked in food services at UMASS Amherst and upon retirement, moved to Florida Pines in Venice FL where she lived for 25 years. While in Venice she attended both the Epiphany Cathedral and Our Lady of Lourdes. Kay was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to play cards and board games, to keep in touch with family and friends organizing many Curran/Pierce family reunions, planning outings with friends in Venice and helping out anyone in need whenever she was able. Above all Kay had a strong and perfect faith and longed to be taken home to heaven where she will surely be rewarded for her selfless love and unshaken faith. Her strength and devotion here on earth will surely be missed but we have all gained an angel in heaven in dear Aunty Kay.

As per Kay’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal services. She will be laid to rest in Saint Mary’s Cemetery beside Bruno and Tommy. www.firtionadams.com
