Montgomery – Charles W. Darling, 92, passed away on February 19, 2017 at Baystate Noble Hospital. He was born in Northampton, MA, to the late Nathan P. and Louise (Kreiner) Darling and was a graduate of West Springfield High School and Purdue College in 1951 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was employed by Hamilton Standard as an engineer for 17 years and by the University of Massachusetts as an Engineer in the Physical Plant for 22 years. Charles was also the Town Assessor in Montgomery for many years. Charles served his country with the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, from 1943-1946. He was a Flight Officer/ Bomber Pilot in a B-26 serving in Central Europe, Rhineland, Northern France and Northern Apennines and receive the WWII Victory Medal, Air Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Patricia A. (Jameson) Darling of Montgomery, his four loving children, Wendy Darling of Upperville, VA, Scott Darling and his wife Mary of Montgomery, Todd Darling and his wife Gail of Canaan, NH and Tracy Darling of Grafton, NH, and his cherished seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Darling and sister Elizabeth Haywood.
