WEST SPRINGFIELD – Claire L. (Strzempka) Raymond, 83, passed away suddenly at Wingate Rehab in West Springfield. She resided in West Springfield for the last 5 years and was a resident of Westfield prior to this. Claire was pre-deceased by her husband Kenneth, her son Kenny and her sister Josephine Conniff, and her loving companion and forever polka partner Joseph Sagan. She was born on September 15, 1931 to John and Stella Strzempka. She worked for 20 years as a greeter at the Westfield Walmart and everyone there including the customers loved her. Prior to Walmart, she worked as a nurse’s aide for over 30 years at Governors Center and Westfield Manor Nursing homes. She is survived by her loving daughters, Susan and her partner Mike Bishop and Patricia Talbot and her husband Michael with whom she resided. Claire also leaves nephews John and Paul Conniff and several other nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Monday, June 22 at 9 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 5-7 pm.
