Southwick- Clara S. (Anderson) Brown, 89, (1929-2019) devoted wife of the late Fitz Brown, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2019; with her family by her side.
Clara was born on September 24, 1929 in Westfield, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Sidney B.N. and Esther (Anderson) Anderson. She was a lifelong resident of Southwick; and belonged to Christ Church United Methodist Church. Clara had been employed by Kimball Company, East Longmeadow.
Clara was raised in Southwick, MA; and lived there all of her life. She was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School. Clara was predeceased by her beloved husband Fitz in 2005. Together they enjoyed traveling, gardening, family picnics and spending time with the grandchildren. Each summer they would pack their trailer and spend time at campgrounds along the shore. Her greatest talent was as an artist. She always had an oil painting in progress. Some of her best works she entered in art shows and many of her paintings she sold. In recent years it was not uncommon for her to give away paintings to anyone who stopped to admire her work. Clara was also an accomplished seamstress who volunteered her skill to all who asked. Clara enjoyed living at Rosewood Estates her final 14 years. There she had many friends. At Rosewood she often could be found painting, doing jigsaw puzzles or watching old western movies. Her cat Princess became a major part of her life. Together they were a team. Each providing companionship to the other. She was predeceased by her brother Robert S. Anderson and her sister Mary A Miller. Clara is survived by her beloved four sons, Warren Brown and his wife Patricia, of Anchorage, Alaska,
Norman Brown of Westfield, Vincent Brown of South Windsor, Timothy Brown and his wife Sharlene , of Westfield; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; nieces , nephews, and extended family members.
Clara’s funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday August 6, 2019 in the Southwick Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick. Her burial will follow in the New Cemetery on College Highway in Southwick.Her calling hours will take place 4:00PM – 7:00PM on Monday August 5, 2019 in the funeral home. Clara’s family would like to thank all of her caregivers for their compassionate and loving care.
