Clifford J. Edgerton

EAST LONGMEADOW – Clifford John Edgerton, 94, passed away on December 6th, 2019 at Wingate in East Longmeadow. He was born in Springfield to the late Clifford L. Edgerton and Mary J. Edgerton (Maher) and lived the majority of his life in Westfield. He is survived by his loving daughter Susanne Edgerton (John Withington) of Sunnyvale CA, son David Edgerton (Carole Bernstein) of Ottawa, cherished grandson Daniel Edgerton, granddaughter Eileen Edgerton, great grandchildren Madelyn and Johnathan and niece Melissa Stanton (Adzima) of Keyport, New Jersey. He enjoyed a 65-year marriage to his late wife Diane Edgerton (Larose). A World War II Army veteran, he proudly served in Europe as an MP with Company B 104th Infantry Regiment. A graduate of St. Mary’s in Westfield and the University of Vermont in Chemistry and History, Cliff retired as a chemist from Premoid Corporation in West Springfield. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips around the US and Canada and to Ireland. He and Diane particularly enjoyed visiting Shenandoah National Park, the Blue Ridge Mountains, Vermont, Myrtle Beach SC, the coast of Maine, Natchez MS, and the Canadian Maritimes. A great fan of Stanley Park, he was also an avid hiker, bicyclist and history enthusiast. A special thank you to all of Cliff’s nurses, aides, and caregivers. The Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 16th at 1:30pm at Saint Mary’s Church followed by burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. www.firtionadams.com
