WESTFIELD – The organizers of Music Fest 2013 have announced that the Livingston Taylor concert planned on the city’s Green this evening has been cancelled due to “the threat of violent weather.”
The concert, the first of a summer music series produced by the city’s Business Improvement District and Westfield on Weekends, was scheduled for 7 p.m. today but a notice posted on the BID website, www.thedistrictwestfield.com, this morning announced that the planned concert has been cancelled and said “a future date has yet to be determined.”
Maureen Belliveau, the executive director of BID, said that she was sorry to have to cancel the show but said “it’s just too dangerous” to stage it this evening in the face of the threatening weather.
“I’m so disappointed but we just can’t risk it” she said.
Belliveau said that she hopes to reschedule Taylor for another date this summer.
“It all depends on his schedule but we do plan to have him back,” she said.
The series is scheduled to continue on July 25 and Belliveau has announced that the featured performer that night will be Cassadee Pope who was crowned the winner of an NBC television show, The Voice, in 2012. She was formerly the lead vocalist in a pop rock band, Hey Monday, but embarked on a solo career early last year.
Also performing that night will be a Nashville singer and songwriter, Joel Course.
The artists for the Aug. 22 and Sept. 12 Music Fest 2013 concerts have not been announced.
