Connecticut woman dies in crash

SOUTHWICK – A young Connecticut woman died early this morning and two other young women were injured in a singe car crash on Granville Road.
Southwick police report that the accident occurred in the area of 190 Granville Road about 1:30 a.m. when a westbound car crossed the center line, left the opposite side of the road and collided with trees before coming to rest.
Police report that the 2002 Mazda had been operated by Jillian Rolland, 21, of Southwick, who was extricated from the smashed mid-size sedan by responding firefighters.
Southwick firefighters requested assistance from the Westfield Fire Department and an advanced life support ambulance and crew were dispatched.
Westfield firefighters report that the ALS paramedics transported Rolland to a site suitable for a LifeStar air ambulance landing zone and Rolland was transported by air to Baystate Medical Center where she was admitted.
Rolland is reported to be in fair condition this morning.
A passenger, Jayme Barry, 21, of Simsbury, Conn., was able to exit the car without assistance and was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital.
Barry ,too, was admitted and was also reported to be in fair condition this morning.
A third passenger, Haley Tierney, 22, of East Granby, Conn., did not survive the crash.
Her body was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and she was found to have died.
The accident remains under investigation by Southwick Officer Brad Fisk with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Reconstruction Team.
