WESTFIELD – Constance E. (Smith) Poulin, 94, of Westfield died Friday, July 20, 2012 in Noble Hospital. She was born in Westfield on November 29, 1917 to Edwin W. and Florence E. (Ely) Smith.
Constance graduated from Westfield High School in 1935, Pine Manor Junior College in 1937 and Wellesly Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston in 1939. She was employed as a buyer for the former Forbes & Wallace Department Store in Springfield. Constance was a trustee at Noble Hospital and a member of the Hopefully Well Affected Club in Westfield. She enjoyed vacations at Congamond Lakes, Cape Cod and Kennebunkport.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years Robert D. Poulin who died on July 1, 2000. Constance leaves her children, Robert D. Poulin Jr. of Westfield, David E. Poulin of Easthampton, James R. Poulin of Westfield, Constance Hosmer of Southwick, Nancy Maynard of Westfield and Donna J. Jones of Manchester, NH. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John L. Poulin in 2011 and a brother, Edwin E. Smith in 2004.
The funeral will be Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations in Constance’s memory be made to the Special Olympics, Attn: Donations, Yawkey Sports Training Center, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Atrium Facility staff for their excellent care as well as the Noble Hospital staff.
