Construction Update: Little River Road – Ridgecrest Drive and Shaker Road

WESTFIELD – The following was just released from the City of Westfield:

Ridgecrest Drive will be closed at the junction of Little River Road – Monday, June 6, Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8.  It will be closed from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.  This will be to allow for the installation of the drainage system.

For the remainder of Little River, the majority of the underground utility work is expected to be complete at the beginning of June with road reconstruction to follow.  The road reconstruction will be broken into three phases to minimize impacts to traffic and residents.  The first phase of reconstruction will include Shaker Road from the intersection with Little River Road to just south of Laurel Avenue.

The contractor, Ludlow Construction anticipates starting the road construction on June 12th which will include the reclamation of Shaker Road.   The reclamation includes crushing of the existing pavement and blending it with the existing gravel below.  Following reclamation the contractor will regrade the material to prepare the road for paving.

This regrading work is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks and during this time the road will be gravel with impacts to travel conditions.   The base course layers of paving on Shaker Road are scheduled for the end of June with curb and sidewalk work to follow.

A proposed schedule for the remaining 2 phases of road reconstruction on Little River Road will be provided when received from the contractor.
