WESTFIELD: Daniel J. Scanlon (1951-2021) passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and COPD. Dan graduated Westfield Vocational and went on to work for several decades as a special heavy equipment operator for the Westfield DPW. He was most recently employed as a mini-school bus driver for Lecrenski. Dan’s favorite past-times with his family included enjoying the outdoors, fishing, camping by the river, traveling, sippin’ wine on the Cape, craft brew tours in Vermont, making his family laugh—and nothing beat a cold Bud Light while hanging with his four-legged pal, Trixie. He was an active member at the local Italian Fraternal Club.
Dan was pre-deceased by his parents and two brothers. Dan leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Pauline (Stucenski) Scanlon, and children – Dee and Huey, Laurie and Joe, Brian, Kim and Dan & Kristi and Justin. “Grumps”, as he was lovingly nicknamed by his grandchildren, also leaves behind – Krystina and Travis, Joey and Sarah, Blake, Brad, Noah, Aliya, JJ, Aliviya, Shelby, Dilan and Harper, as well as a great-granddaughter, Darla.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Daniel on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm St., Westfield.
